Drawings of Dance and Theatre in the Daily Press

The project explores how drawings disappear from the cultural pages during the latter half of the twentieth century. One reason often adduced for this is the development of photography. Of course there are practical and economic factors behind the disappearance of drawings, but this project is more interested in how new and other expectations of the illustrative picture come up in a photographic culture and what kind of expectations these are. The project also investigates the relationship between the two media drawing and photography, in addition to paying attention to some artists who have worked with theatre drawings in Swedish daily papers during the second half of the twentieth century.
