Music Organizations Equality Work

The project Music Organizations’ Equality Work examines ideas on girls, equality and feminism that are shaping contemporary gender-equality work in music organizations in Sweden. Furthermore, the project investigates methods used to promote gender equality in music and in instrument education, as well as conceptions about music and gender equality as described by participants and organizers. The research is carried out through reflexive ethnography by four researchers in four music organizations mainly geared toward young people, all of which focus their activities on girls/women, promote equality in music and/or have feminist policies.
