Feminist critique, feminist resistance, feminist hopes.

Exploring practices, strategies and visions within feminist activism in Sweden.

This research project aims to expand understandings of feminism, through analyses of the complex and heterogeneous feminist struggles for social change among contemporary activist groups. What are the strategies developed by feminist activists to combat injustices in a Swedish context? How do they conceptualize feminism as transformative? How do they connect to and perceive feminism’s past, present and future? Based on ethnographic material (participant observation, fieldnotes and interviews), this project analyses the above questions in relation to feminist collective practices and negotiations around social justice, power and norms among radical, leftist, anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-capitalist, LGBT- and queer feminist grassroot groups in Sweden of today.
