Scandinavian Cultural and Social Studies

Scandinavian Studies is a series of introductory courses in English designed especially for international students, both exchange students and so called freemovers. The courses explore contemporary culture and social life from different perspectives and give a broad overview of the background, changes and transformations of Scandinavian culture and cultural expressions.

From the Autmn Term 2020 the courses will be given individually and with a revised content. The Department of Historical Studies will give the courses for the Autumn Term 2020, and the Department of Cultural Sciences in collaboration with the Department of Literature, History of Ideas and Religion will give the courses for the Spring Term 2021.

Together all the courses will provide a wide knowledge and a good understanding of contemporary life and culture in Sweden and Scandinavia.

The language of instruction is English and the lecturers come from different disciplines at the department of Cultural Sciences and from other disciplines at the Faculty of Humanities.
