Killjoy feminism through contemporary art

Workshop

By Isil Egrikavuk, Universität der Künste, Berlin

Institutionen för kulturvetenskaper, Vera Sandbergs Allé 8, Vasa 2

This workshop aims to look into contemporary artists who have been doing research and work on gender "troubles". Moving from early works of feminist art practices to techno-feminism in contemporary art today and the digital body, the workshop will aim to give participants a survey of how women artists are approaching gender in their work.

Using Sara Ahmed's "killjoy feminism" as a departure point, the workshop will invite participants to have a discussion and create performative group work among themselves as guided by the instructor. Participants will be invited to produce ideas for their own performance and present them, which could be a continuing research after the workshop.
